About Josie

Josie is a director in theatre and opera, specialising in devising new work, collaborating with young people and facilitating collective creativity in ensembles.

Josie is Co-Lead Facilitator on NYT’s accredited course Stepping Up and an Academic Tutor on the Performance: Design and Practice course at Central St Martin’s / UAL.

She has worked with theatre company Complicite since 2010 as a performer, director and facilitator. She leads courses and workshops for performers and non-performers for Complicite and other companies in a variety of settings across a range of disciplines including creative collaboration, play, devised physical theatre, puppetry and movement.

She has revived opera productions for Simon McBurney and Romeo Castellucci at Adelaide Festival, Teatro di San Carlo Naples, La Monnaie Brussels, Wiener Festwochen, Theater Basel, Palau des Arts Valencia, Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, De Nationale Opera Amsterdam and English National Opera.

Josie is interested in weaving together her experience in theatre and opera to create and direct new work in collaboration with musicians, actors, dancers and other artists.
